Majors Darren & Mary Norton

Senior Pastors & Executive Directors

In July 2025, Majors Darren & Mary Norton were appointed Corps Officers and Administrators of The Salvation Army’s Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Hawaii. It is the vision of the Hawaii Kroc Center to be a dynamic and flourishing gathering place for a diverse community where people are welcomed, inspired, and transformed through the love of Christ.

In addition to leading the work of the Kroc Center, the Nortons also pastor the congregation at Kroc Church. The Nortons have been Salvation Army leaders for 29 years, with previous appointments in Salem, Oregon, then in California in San Diego, Pasadena and San Francisco.

Darren and Mary met while working at The Salvation Army’s Summer Camp in Portland, Oregon. Darren was born and raised in London, England and grew up in a Salvation Army family. After High School he spent three years in banking, then obtained his BA in Accounting & Finance at the University of East London . After graduating, he moved to Oregon to work for The Salvation Army in Coos Bay.

Mary was born in Glendale, California but was raised primarily in Oregon and Idaho. She is a graduate of Boise State University’s nursing program and spent several years as a registered nurse prior to becoming a Salvation Army Officer. She was working as the camp nurse the year she met Darren.

The Nortons were married in Coos Bay, Oregon and entered The Salvation Army College for Officer Training in 1996. Darren and Mary have four children, a son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren (which they adore!).
